Product Care
Please follow the below care and handling instructions to help keep your furniture in the best possible condition.
Fabric Upholstery
- Protect from direct sunlight and heat sources such as radiators or fireplaces, as prolonged exposure can cause fabric to fade and deteriorate over time.
- Regularly vacuum your fabric sofa using the low suction setting and a soft brush attachment to remove dust, dirt, and loose debris. Rotate and fluff reversible cushions periodically to distribute wear evenly and maintain their shape.
- Act quickly if spills or stains occur. Blot the affected area immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth, do not scrub or rub, as this can spread the stain. Gently scrape away any solid soil or mop up liquid from the surface.
- Use only approved cleaning solutions specifically designed for upholstery. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or strong detergents, as these can damage the fabric. Always test any cleaner on a small, inconspicuous area before applying it to the entire surface.
- Avoid heavy soiling caused by perspiration, hair oil, footwear, and pets. If you have pets, keep their nails trimmed and consider using protective covers or blankets to create a barrier between your pet and the sofa.
Leather Upholstery
- Do not dry clean or machine wash. Avoid using detergents, solvents, abrasives, generic leather cleaners, saddle soaps, or suede cleaners, as these can cause serious damage to the leather surface.
- Protect your leather lounge from direct sunlight and all heat sources, including radiators, fireplaces, and heating vents. Prolonged exposure can cause the leather to fade, dry out, and crack. Where possible, use curtains or blinds to limit sun exposure.
- Vacuum regularly using a soft brush attachment to remove dust and grit. Follow up by wiping the surface with a soft, colour-fast cloth as needed, or at least every 2β3 weeks.
- Act quickly if spills occur. Blot gently with a clean dry cloth, do not rub excessively or press too hard, as this can spread the stain and damage the leather surface. For liquid spills, avoid using water directly; use only an approved leather cleaner and always let the product do the work, following the manufacturer's instructions. Use only a soft, colour-fast or white cloth or sponge when cleaning.
- Always test any cleaning product on a small, inconspicuous area before applying it to the entire surface.
- Pay particular attention to high-wear areas such as headrests, backrests, armrests, seat cushions, and footrests. These areas come into regular contact with skin and are susceptible to dirt, grime, and body oils. In warm or humid weather, wipe these areas down weekly, especially if the leather has become damp from perspiration. Without proper care, this can damage the leather coating and may cause peeling.
- Please be aware that certain medications can cause the leather's topcoat to deteriorate over time. Chemicals secreted through the skin as a result of medications, including but not limited to chemotherapy, diabetes, and heart medications can alter the body's natural chemistry and accelerate breakdown of the leather coating.
- Always clean along any creases that develop in the leather to prevent dirt buildup in those areas.
- Condition your leather regularly using an approved high-quality leather conditioner applied with a soft cloth, following the manufacturer's instructions. This helps maintain suppleness, prevents cracking, and extends the life of your lounge.
- If your lounge has removable cushions, rotate them periodically to ensure even wear and prevent excessive sagging.
- Keep sharp objects away from your leather lounge, including keys, pet claws, and sharp-edged items. If you have pets, consider using protective covers or training them to stay off the furniture.
- It is recommended to have your leather lounge professionally cleaned once or twice a year, depending on usage. Professional cleaners have the expertise and equipment to deep clean and condition the leather, removing embedded dirt and restoring its original lustre.
Feather Fill Cushions
Did you know that when purchasing a feather-filled lounge suite, it is completely normal for cushions to appear flat or "limp" after use? This is not a fault or manufacturing defect, it is simply the nature of feather fill.
All feather-filled lounges, both seat and back cushions, require regular maintenance through "plumping." To keep your cushions looking as full and lovely as the floor model, they will need to be plumped up regularly. If you are not prepared to do this, feather and fibre fill may not be the right choice for you, as feathers will naturally flatten when sat on. Their selling feature, however, is their wonderfully soft and luxurious comfort.
How to plump your cushions:
- Remove the cushions from the sofa.
- Push down firmly on the cushion with a hitting motion or drop them onto a clean floor to allow the feathers to redistribute.
- This pushes air back into the cushion, helping restore its shape and comfort.
Additionally, rotate and reverse your cushions frequently to ensure even wear, and keep them away from direct sunlight and moisture, which can damage the feathers and cause unpleasant odours. Note that occasionally feathers may work their way through the fabric casing, this is normal and not a manufacturing fault.
Moving & Handling Your Furniture
When repositioning or moving any furniture, always lift the piece, never drag, push, or slide it across the surface. Dragging furniture can damage both the furniture's feet, frame, and finish, as well as scratch or mark your flooring. For heavier items, always ensure at least two people are available to lift safely and correctly. Follow all care and handling instructions to keep your furniture in the best possible condition.
Electrical Components & Safety
Furniture with electrical components, such as electric recliners, beds, and adjustable bases require additional care and attention to ensure safe and reliable operation. Please read and follow all of the below guidelines carefully.
- Cords and cables: Regularly inspect all power cords and cables for any signs of damage, including nicks, cuts, fraying, or kinking. Do not place furniture, objects, or heavy items on top of power cords, and ensure cords are never pinched beneath furniture legs or trapped in the reclining mechanism. Always route cords away from high-traffic areas to prevent tripping hazards and accidental damage.
-
Use only supplied cords and accessories: Always ensure your furniture is connected to the correct voltage as specified in the product documentation. Do not use adaptors or extension leads that are not rated for the required load.
Always use the power cord and accessories supplied with your furniture. Never substitute with third-party cords, cables, adaptors, or handsets, even if they appear compatible. Third-party components may not meet the required safety and voltage specifications for your furniture and could result in damage to the electrical system, voiding of your warranty, or pose a serious safety risk. If your original cord or accessory is lost or damaged, contact our customer service team for an approved replacement. - Power surge protection: We strongly recommend plugging all electrically powered furniture into a quality power surge protector rather than directly into a wall socket. This helps protect the electrical components from damage caused by power surges, particularly during storms or periods of unstable power supply. During severe electrical storms, consider unplugging your furniture entirely as an added precaution.
- Liquid and moisture: Never allow liquids to come into contact with any electrical components, power cords, motors, or control handsets. In the event of a spill near or on any electrical component, disconnect the power immediately and do not reconnect until the affected area has been thoroughly dried and inspected.
- Overheating: If at any point your furniture's motor, cord, handset, or any electrical component feels unusually hot to the touch, disconnect the power immediately and do not use the furniture until it has been inspected by a qualified technician. Some warmth during normal operation is expected, but excessive heat is a warning sign that should never be ignored.
- Children and pets: Keep children and pets away from power cords, handsets, and moving electrical components at all times. Never allow children to operate electric mechanisms unsupervised.
- When not in use: If your electrically powered furniture will not be in use for an extended period, disconnect it from the power supply. This reduces the risk of electrical damage and is particularly advisable during holidays or prolonged absences from the home.
- Do not attempt repairs: Never attempt to repair, modify, or tamper with any electrical component yourself. Always contact a qualified technician or reach out to our customer service team for assistance.
